CO2 lasers have long been used to provide reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and an overall improvement in the appearance of the skin. Newer fractional lasers combine the benefits of the older fully ablative CO2 laser with a much faster recovery time. Typical areas that are treated include the lower eyelids, face, and neck. Recovery time varies depending upon the area treated and the depth of treatment. Downtime is typically 7-10 days consisting of redness, mild pain, and irritation. Lighter treatments can be performed with a shorter downtime, however it is likely to require multiple treatments to achieve the desired results.
